First drawing Second drawing Throughout the semester I have learned many new artistic techniques to improve my art. My original drawing at the top was something I had drawn at the beginning of the semester. I used graphite to create a hand holding a water bottle. I attempted to create a sense of atmospheric perspective with the object on the table in the room with the wall and door in the background. I used several contour lines to create the shape of the hand and the bottle, as well as little shading to form the fingers. I believe the proportions of the hand and bottle improved from the first drawing to the second. I also improved on the shape of the hand and the way the bottle is held. The first drawing was unrealistic in the way the hand moves, in the second drawing I made the hand a little more realistic.

I have learned many new things during my colored pencil adventure and quest to be a better artist. One of the most important things I learned was the use of shading and blending of colors to create value. I've learned to blend the colors from dark to light or light to dark in order to emphasize the colors of the sky and the grass areas on my most recent drawing. One of the main differences between the first and the second drawing is the differences in the area of white. In my second drawing I tried to blend my colors well enough to eliminate as much white space as I could. I also used the Prismacolor colored pencils on later on to ensure the colors mix together well in the wax. I attempted to make the sky and the water a mix of blue and gray through the use of tinting, while through the edges of the land and parts of the vegetation I attempted to darken to create emphasis.
These past weeks I developed and learned new techniques and skills revolving around the aspects of line and linear perspective. These three drawings show my process in making a one point perspective drawing of a hallway at my school, with graphite. Throughout different parts of my final drawing, I included many different kinds of lines, as well as the use of blending and some smudging, to create values, and shadows, that will hopefully help create more atmospheric perspective. The main/most important lines I used are directional lines, these lines direct the viewer's eyes towards the center of the drawing, as the hallway continues inward towards the vanishing point.
During weeks 5-8, I have learned and discovered new techniques to use in my art. I have completed a few watercolor projects lately, and one of the most interesting things I learned is how color blending makes it easier to bring more life into your artwork. I also learned that using ink to create drawings and other artwork brings more emphasis into the piece, as opposed to using normal pencil or other drawing utensils.
Throughout these 4 weeks I have learned and used many new and interesting techniques in my artwork. One of the most interesting to me, is the aspects of shading and crosshatching in the early stages of my artwork. Most of these art pieces are made with colored pencil, chalk pastels, and graphite pencil.
